Housing Minister Kit Malthouse visited Ebbsfleet Garden City to see the rapid progress that is being made.
He visited the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation Information Centre at Ebbsfleet International where he saw the huge 3D model showing the scale of the project before heading to Eastern Quarry and hearing about the plans for up to 6,250 homes there.
The Minister also met with representatives from Clarion which is providing affordable homes to rent and buy in Castle Hill and had been given planning permission the day before for a further 163 properties which will complete Castle Hill.
The Minister said: “The thousandth family has now moved into a house here and that’s incredibly exciting.
“It’s all part of our mission to build more, better, faster homes for the whole of the UK and Ebbsfleet Garden City will play a critical part in us hitting that important target of 300,000 houses a year by the mid 2020s.”
There are now 1,174 completed homes in Ebbsfleet Garden City with hundreds more under construction.
