Planners have approved a further 233 homes on two sites in Ebbsfleet Garden City, 97 of which will be affordable.
Redrow’s latest plans will see further expansion at Ebbsfleet Green where it is building up to 950 homes, along with a village centre, park, sports pitches, a hotel and pub and a primary school.
It was given approval by Ebbsfleet Development Corporation’s planning committee for 191 new properties, 55 of which will be shared ownership or affordable rent.
In a separate scheme at Castle Hill, Eastern Quarry, housing association Clarion was given permission to build 42, two to four bedroom homes, all of which will be shared ownership or affordable rent.
Paul Spooner, Ebbsfleet Development Corporation Interim Chief Executive, said: “I’m pleased the planning committee has approved another 233 homes for Ebbsfleet Garden City, with those affordable homes to meet local housing needs.
“The Garden City is proving popular with those wanting to get their first step on the property ladder with its wide range of quality new housing.
“And with Help to Buy being used in the majority of purchases here, we’re becoming the number one area for young, local families.”
The Corporation revealed last week that more than 600 homes were under construction in Ebbsfleet Garden City in the last 12 months.
It said its private developer partners would help deliver 5,100 new homes by 2021 as it heads to its total of up to 15,000 homes.
A new primary school, Cherry Orchard, will open in Castle Hill this September and is currently enrolling its first pupils, the first Garden City pub will open this year and is currently being built and work will start this summer on a new £12million bridge delivered by the corporation, linking Springhead Park residents with Ebbsfleet International Station.
