A new footpath will halve the time it takes residents to walk from part of Ebbsfleet Garden City to the International Station.

Work has started on opening up the direct route between Castle Hill and Ebbsfleet International, meaning residents will soon be able to enjoy a quick and direct route to the station on foot or by bike.

The previous journey would have taken around 20 minutes.

The footpath is being delivered by Henley Camland and Highspeed1 who manage Ebbsfleet Station.

It is thought the path will be open in about 12-weeks.

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation is planning to deliver a programme of new footpaths and cycleways connecting the existing communities at Swanscombe, Castle Hill and Northfleet to Ebbsfleet International over the next two years. These paths will eventually form a network of  green spaces  connecting each neighbourhood to local parks and village centres.

Residents in Northfleet have already been asked what improvements they’d like and the EDC is due to hold meetings people in Swanscombe and Castle Hill soon to see what new routes might benefit them.
