Ebbsfleet Green Community Buildings- have your say

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation and Redrow are teaming up to bring two new community buildings to Ebbsfleet Green and we need you to help us create some great new spaces.

In 2019 EDC worked with a leading UK architect to develop a strategy to deliver innovative and flexible new community buildings across the Garden City. As part of the ‘Space in the Place’ study we took a focussed look at the Ebbsfleet Green development and spent an evening in February 2019 working with a group of 25 local residents to vision two new community building spaces for this new Garden City Community.

Residents were clear that they wanted to see new spaces for the community to socialise and come together, places for children to play, places to develop new skills and spaces to hold classes, activities and events. Residents wanted to see spaces for indoor sports and facilities such as kitchens, gyms and function spaces.

In our recent ‘Learning from Lockdown’ web survey, Ebbsfleet Green residents reiterated the need to see new open spaces and spaces for the community to come together so we are pleased to be able to unveil these exciting plans.

In line with this feedback, we have been working closely with the developer on Ebbsfleet Green, Redrow Homes, to increase the opportunities for residents to access community spaces and have developed plans for two new community buildings. The first facility will be a Neighbourhood House for the community which will be located to the south of the new Ebbsfleet Green Primary School building.

We have also developed plans for an additional, Community Hub building which will be built in the South East corner of the development, adjacent to the Spring River Pub and Hotel. This will be a larger scale building at around 1,000 m2 and will combine indoor community and sports spaces with an external all-weather football pitch and two tennis courts.

Now we want to know what you think.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic we are not currently holding public, face-to-face engagement events and as such we are commencing an online public engagement exercise from today, completing on 18 September 2020.

There are lots of ways to get involved.

You can view the plans for the proposed new buildings below. We have come up with two designs for the Neighbourhood House and the Community Hub and we want to gather your thoughts and suggestions on both.

Once you have viewed the plans, you can then link to an online survey to have your say.

We are also holding a live webinar via MS Teams on 7 September and we hope you will join us at 18.30-19.30. Our architects will present the plans to residents and you will be able to put your questions and ideas to the project team in real time. You can sign up to take part by emailing us at contactebbsfleetdc@ebbsfleetdc.org.uk Please add the title ‘Ebbsfleet Green Community Buildings consultation’ to your email.

If you know of an Ebbsfleet Green resident who might not be able to access this engagement exercise online please contact us on the details below and we will send them some hard copy plans and a survey that they can return to us by freepost.

Please get in touch and tell us what you think!
