First stage of electricity project starts

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation is investing in new electricity substations and connections in order to supply up to 15,000 homes and a new city centre over the next 15 years.

UK Power Networks has now started the first stage of construction works, with demolition and civil enabling works being carried out at the Northfleet East Grid in preparation for the construction of two new 132,000-volt feeder circuits.

These two new circuits at Northfleet East Grid will supply power to the new Ebbsfleet Grid, following the recommissioning of existing overhead circuits between the two sites, plus two new proposed primary substations.
