Equality and Diversity Statement and Equality Impact Assessment Policy
EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY
The Ebbsfleet Development Corporation is committed to making every effort to eliminate discrimination, promote equal opportunities and foster good working relationships between different people.
We will not tolerate discrimination on grounds of gender, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, race, colour, nationality, religion, age, disability, HIV positivity, working pattern, caring responsibilities, trade union activity or political beliefs – or any other grounds.
We have a challenging mandate to deliver a new Garden City at Ebbsfleet. In order to achieve this, we will need to work effectively with a wide range of organisations and with the local community. It is therefore crucial that equality and diversity are fully integrated into our day-to-day work. We will also rely on the skill and professionalism of our staff and we are committed to equality and valuing diversity within our workforce.
We will demonstrate our values and our commitment by promoting equality of opportunity and diversity within the communities we work with, our partners and our workforce, and by treating everyone we come into contact with fairly and with respect.
As required by the Public Sector Equality Duty, we will have due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.
We will consider any potential equality implications when developing policies and designing services. An Equality Statement (attached at Annex A) will be used to test for any adverse equality impacts on those with a protected characteristic and to identify actions to mitigate such impacts.
