The Grove Road area in Northfleet, Gravesend, once solely a location for heavy industry, was identified as suitable for new housing in Gravesham Council’s Local Plan. Ebbsfleet Development Corporation is working with Gravesham Council and Kent County Council to bring this change forward and create new homes for local residents.
The first step is to agree a masterplan for the area. The EDC has been working with partners to create this. This work builds on the recent approval to build up to 530 new homes on Northfleet Embankment West and aims to help its delivery. The draft masterplan does not propose changes to the Hive or Wallis Park estates. However, it does seek to provide residents with better access to the riverfront, improved highway access to the area, new open space and closer links to the new homes proposed for the area.
The draft masterplan for the new riverside residential quarter includes up to 980 new homes, up to a third of which will be affordable housing, restaurants, employment space, new and improved roads, public transport, a new park and better access to the riverside.
The Ebbsfleet Development Corporation is now consulting on the draft masterplan to ensure it reflects the ideas and concerns of local residents. The six week consultation will start on June 18 and close on July 30 2018. Information will be available here whilst residents and businesses are also invited to attend two key events, these are:-
Ebbsfleet United Football Club from 10am to 2pm, Saturday, June 23 THIS EVENT HAS NOW BEEN HELD
