Ebbsfleet GATHERING: create, grow, thrive

Ebbsfleet Garden City is staging a family festival which will showcase talent from all ages and celebrate the area’s culture and community.

Ebbsfleet Garden City’s Healthy New Towns project will hold the event called The Gathering on March 23 which is aimed at people of all ages.

The free day will be filled with a range of exciting events which include:

  • Have a go at aerial acrobatics
  • Keep Fit Bhangra dancing and dhol drumming
  • Free locally sourced food served up by professional and amateur chefs
  • An open mic event for residents to perform
  • Drawing workshops for children

It will mark three years of the Healthy New Towns programme in Ebbsfleet Garden City, a project set up by NHS England with Ebbsfleet Development Corporation and Dartford Gravesham and Swanley Clinical Commissioning Group.

Kevin McGeough, Ebbsfleet Garden City’s Director of Healthy New Towns, said: “We wanted to celebrate three years of being a Healthy New Town with the community and have lined up a whole series of events that people of any age can get involved in.

“There will be a strong focus on local food and a celebration of the Garden City with local history talks and the creation of a collage that will celebrate the very best of the area.”

Since launching in 2016, Healthy New Towns has worked with local volunteers to create a series of community gardens where people can get free fruit and veg and launched the ‘Better Points’ app which rewards users for being active outdoors.

The event takes place at Manor Community Primary School, Swanscombe, between 12-4.
