Our Creative Ideas Fund has gone from strength to strength since we launched it late last year.
We’ve given hundreds of pounds away to people who have had an idea to start up an activity and need a financial push.
So far we have donated to:
Academy of Dance, Northfleet Veterans Club. A new ‘Street Dance’ class for younger children aged 2-5 year olds. This class will be aimed at children who are from lower income families, giving them the opportunity to try new activities which they may not get the chance to normally, allowing them to get out and meet new friends, building confidence and keeping them off the street.
My Butterfly, Swanscombe Church Hall. Art workshops for children with Autism and their parents & carers. The class will create a platform for children who need to develop communication skills, socialise freely, make new friends & enjoy their favourite activities. The class will also act as a place for parents to communicate & support each other.
Walk Tall, Swanscombe. Performance Group for adults in Swanscombe. Encourage participation in musical performance and a choir/singing group. Aim to attract adults (especially older adults) to come together to socialise and create great performances. The aim is to rehearse and then go out to perform community entertainment for local community venues and groups.
Castle Hill Book Club, Castle Hill Community Centre. Book Club for adults in Castle Hill to meet once a month. A book will be chosen and members have a month to read it and then discuss in a meeting.
BluePrint Film Foundation, Castle Hill Community Centre. Community Film Screening
The idea is to bring the community together, to meet new people and to have fun. Family event which will (hopefully) going forward take place monthly.
