An Ebbsfleet Garden City day was held at Ebbsfleet Academy – and there was even an appearance from Dame Kelly Holmes.
The day consisted of workshops with students in years 7, 8 and 9 with the aim to raise awareness of the Garden City’s development and to take students out into their local area to explore and find out more.
Year 9 focused on master planning, and visited the Eastern Quarry development. Year 8 focussed on green and open spaces, and visited Swanscombe Peninsula, the site of a proposed theme park. Year 7 looked at health and activity and visited the Cyclopark cycling centre where they met Dame Kelly Holmes, who has her own café there.
Crystal Cardnell, Vice Principal at the Academy said: “The students have had a great time and I think they now have a sense of the positive and exciting changes to their area. It has been so lovely to see how engaged they have been with the topics.”
