Work has started on the first phase of planned new cycling and walking routes for Ebbsfleet Garden City.
A series of improvements is being carried out around Northfleet, the first of which will see the path improved from Granby Road to the riverside.
The route to the riverside which is currently overgrown, suffers with severe litter problems and is deemed as a hazard by locals.
The route will be resurfaced and improved with lighting, creating a safe walk for residents down to the riverside but also as a route for people who work on the industrial areas around Crete Hall Road to walk to work from Northfleet.
Elsewhere there will be a series of improvements from Northfleet to Ebbsfleet International which will make routes more pedestrian and cycle friendly with improvements to surfaces and widening of paths as well as dropped kerbs.
